Wee Write 2018! Sunday 20th May - Families Weekend Volunteer Event and Queue Management

The power is in your hands. Please select what dates and times you are able to do. We are looking for a maximum of 5 volunteers every day of the Schools Programme. This will be allocated on a first come first served basis

General Event and Customer Support Role - Engage with festival goers of all ages and promoting events and services. Ushering and directly audiences – including children and school classes to the correct rooms. This may involve stair climbing to different rooms around the Mitchell. Providing customer service including assisting customers with access needs. Assisting where necessary to ensure the events run as smoothly as possible under the direction of the Festival Coordinator and Festival Assistants. Assisting with the set-up of staging and props at each event. Engaging with festival goers of all ages and promoting events and services

Be an outgoing, practical, enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in literature. Be confident working amongst and engaging with members of the public and the writers/ speakers featured at the events. Be able to work quickly and efficiently under pressure. Be able to work alone and in a team. Be physically comfortable carrying and moving items, using lifts and trollies and walking short distances (including up and down stairs).

Arrived around 1 pm at Mitchell Library to meet up with Christine Stewart. My role was to assist with preparation for the Harry Potter hour in the Puppet Theatre Rooms. I was to make sure the clues were all present for quiz, ensure the parents/guardians had signed the photography disclosure form, guide the children completing the quiz. Help post signs in the Potions Laboratory, and help children find particular potions. Also help with the potion bottle labels "I want to call mine Vomit Juice" and "Mine is the Fairy Finder potion"...
